The shape of the Chrysanthemum flower has been likened to the sun, and was meant to drive away evil spirits. According to ancient Chinese practices, drinking the dew collected from Chrysanthemums is said to lengthen one’s life, and its blossoms have come to symbolize longevity. This design depicts the auspicious Chrysanthemum blossoms, decorated with golden, silver and mother-of-pearl, floating in running water.
